What Data I Collect
When you use the contact form on this website, I collect the following personal data:
- Your name
- Your email address
- The subject and content of your message
Cookies and Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site — for example, which pages are most popular, how long people spend on the site, and where visitors come from. This helps me improve the website and campaign communications.
Google Analytics uses cookies to collect anonymous, aggregated data. No tracking occurs unless you click “Accept” on the cookie consent banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no browsing data is collected.
When you accept cookies, the following data may be collected by Google Analytics:
- Pages you visit and how long you spend on each page
- How you arrived at the site (e.g. search engine, social media, direct link)
- Your approximate geographic location (city level, not precise)
- Device type, browser, and operating system
This data is anonymous and cannot be used to identify you personally. Google acts as a data processor on my behalf. You can read Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
You can withdraw your cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site, which will cause the consent banner to reappear on your next visit.
This website does not use advertising pixels or any other non-essential tracking technologies beyond Google Analytics.
How I Use Your Data
I use the personal data you provide solely for the purpose of responding to your enquiry, keeping you informed about the campaign if you have asked me to, or arranging campaign activities you have volunteered for (such as delivering leaflets or displaying a poster).
Lawful Basis
I process your personal data on the basis of legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR) — specifically, the legitimate interest of a political candidate in communicating with residents and responding to their enquiries about the campaign. Where you have specifically asked to be kept informed or to volunteer, I may also rely on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR).
Who Has Access to Your Data
Your form submissions are processed by Netlify, which hosts this website and handles form submissions on my behalf. Netlify acts as a data processor and stores form data on servers located in the United States, subject to appropriate safeguards. You can read Netlify’s privacy policy at netlify.com/privacy.
If you accept analytics cookies, anonymous browsing data is also processed by Google LLC through Google Analytics 4. Google acts as a data processor and stores data on servers that may be located outside the UK, subject to appropriate safeguards. Google does not receive any personally identifiable information from this website. You can read Google’s data processing terms at business.safety.google/processorterms.
I do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any other third parties. Campaign volunteers may assist with responding to enquiries, but only under my direction and with appropriate care for your data.
How Long I Keep Your Data
I will retain your personal data for no longer than 12 months after the May 2026 local elections, unless you ask me to keep in touch beyond that. After this period, your data will be securely deleted.
Your Rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data I hold about you
- Ask me to correct any inaccurate data
- Ask me to delete your data
- Object to my processing of your data
- Withdraw your consent at any time (where consent is the lawful basis)
To exercise any of these rights, please email jonathan@jonathanforgosforth.uk or write to me at the address above.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
